Enigmatic neroli

An utterly casual and understated nature, with just the right amount of mystery.

Main notes
Bitter orange - orange blossom - galbanum - clary sage

The olfactory signature
Juniper berry, its icy freshness like a glass of gin on a hot afternoon.

Description
A fluttering and refreshing bite of bergamot, bitter orange and lemon, intensified by the juniper and its aromatic bitterness. Angelica and sage bring green and herbal nuances to this olfactory cocktail, while a touch of galbanum hints at a trace of evanescent tobacco.

Context
First composed in 1957/1967 by Paul Vacher, then revisited in 2016 by Rodrigo Flores-Roux, Cologne expresses not only the citrus, but also the imaginary and anachronistic meeting of both perfumers. In the shadow of an orange tree in Le Galion House’s private hotel, they think up the fragrance while smoking a cigar and sharing a refreshing gin. Simply carefree and delicious .

A word from our perfumer
“To go further than the usual pattern of Cologne – with citrus and orange blossom in the opening – I wanted to create surprise by using green and aromatic notes like sage, galbanum, and angelica. This accord quietly shakes up the Cologne’s construction, by giving it a special touch that I hope would make Paul Vacher smile.”
